Who we are

The Stroke Center is run under the direction of Lyle Dennis, M.D., who has specialized training in neurocritical and stroke care.

He is Board Certified in Vascular Neurology and a clinical assistant professor of Neurology at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center.

Dr. Dennis received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha.

He completed an internship, residency, and a fellowship in critical care neurology at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center.

Dr. Dennis coordinates care with a multidisciplinary healthcare team that includes physicians, social workers, physical therapists, speech therapists, and nurses dedicated to the care of stroke patients.




Dev R. Gupta, M.D. is chief of Neurology at Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC) and is an assistant professor of Clinical Neurology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). He is a recipient of The Meritorious Service Award from The American Heart Association for his work in developing programs for the treatment of stroke.

Under the leadership of Dr. Gupta, the Stroke Treatment Program at Hackensack University Medical Center was a major component of the efforts that led to The Pursuing Perfection Grant from The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation . In a nationwide competition, only seven healthcare organizations were selected to receive this prestigious award.

Dr. Gupta is Board Certified in Neurology and has been appointed a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology. He is one of the few neurologists in New Jersey who is also Board Certified in Stroke and Vascular Neurology.
