Why Choose Us?

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center integrates surgical expertise, technological innovations, clinical research, and patient-focused care within the nation’s fourth busiest academic and research medical center. With almost 50 board-certified orthopaedic surgeons on the faculty and state-of-the-art imaging services and surgical facilities, the department provides today’s most advanced diagnostic, treatment, and prevention services for adults and children with all types of disorders and injuries of the musculoskeletal system. Post-operative care and rehabilitation therapy within our designated orthopaedic inpatient unit and in our outpatient rehabilitation medicine center give patients the aftercare they need to regain functioning and improve their quality of life. Our patients benefit from world-class, personalized medical care delivered in a suburban setting that is close to home and family.

Many of our orthopaedic surgeons are fellowship-trained in their subspecialty. In addition to orthopaedists who treat conditions of general orthopaedics, we have faculty specializing in foot and ankle conditions, hand surgery, reconstructive and total joint replacement, spinal procedures, and sports medicine. Hackensack University Medical Center is one of the top 10 hospitals for total joint replacement surgery; 2,000 of these are performed each year by our orthopaedic surgeons. We also have orthopaedic surgeons skilled in the highly specialized field of orthopaedic oncology. Pediatric orthopaedists specialize in treating children of all ages, from newborn through adolescence.

An orthopaedic surgeon is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week at Hackensack University Medical Center’s Emergency Medicine Department. Our state-designated level II regional trauma center boasts the skills of a fellowship-trained orthopaedic traumatologist to treat patients with orthopaedic trauma and multiple injuries. Many of our orthopaedic surgeons perform clinical research in their private practices.
