Petriella, M.D., Vice Chairman Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Hackensack University Medical Center 30 Prospect Avenue Hackensack, N.J. 07601 201-996-2755 The Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology provides comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic services for women of all ages. The division is staffed by 8 full-time hospital-based faculty physicians and more than 80 OB/GYN physicians in private practice in the community. The division encompasses women’s health services from primary and preventive care to comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic services. The division draws on the expertise of sub-specialists in maternal-fetal medicine, reproductive medicine, gynecologic oncology, genetics, and urogynecology to assist in establishing treatment and management plans for patients with complex problems requiring these services. Our physicians in the general division also provide a full spectrum of gynecologic surgery, including minimally invasive procedures and telerobotic gynecologic surgery. The Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology is directed by Michael R. Petriella, M.D., who is also the vice chairman of the Department. Dr. Petriella has been practicing general OB/GYN at Hackensack University Medical Center for over 30 years. He is a clinical assistant professor of OB/GYN at the University of Medicine and Dentistry – New Jersey Medical School. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Petriella is the chief quality officer and director of medical education for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at HUMC. Dr. Petriella received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his residency in OB/GYN at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore. Dr. Petriella has been recognized with numerous awards for his teaching, including several Golden Apple Teaching Awards and the Alpha Omega Alpha Faculty Award from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School.
