SEMINARS MAKE LASER TECHNIQUES CLEAR


Hackensack University Medical Center's Cornea and Laser Eye Institute in Teaneck uses the most current laser technologies, including the new Ladarvision scanning laser, to help those who must constantly rely on eyeglasses or contact lenses.

On Tuesday, June 20 at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 24 at 9:30 a.m., the Institute, located at Glenpointe Center East, will conduct complimentary seminars on laser vision correction. Peter S. Hersh, M.D., director of the Cornea and Laser Eye Institute at Hackensack University Medical Center, has been recognized for his pioneering work in laser refractive surgery, a state-of-the-art technique to correct vision problems. Dr. Hersh is also a professor of ophthalmology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-New Jersey Medical School.

Dr. Hersh has been selected for Best Doctors in America. He has discussed advances in vision correction on several network television programs, and in articles printed in both national and New York metropolitan area publications. The American Academy of Ophthalmology honored Dr. Hersh in 1994.

Dr. Hersh was the lead author in a clinical study that resulted in F.D.A. approval of excimer laser surgery for correction of nearsightedness. He also participated in clinical trials that lead to the recent F.D.A. approval of the LASIK procedure for correction of nearsightedness and astigmatism. The author of four textbooks and two recently released books, "Excimer Laser Surgery for Corneal Disorders" and "Refractive Surgery,"5 Dr. Hersh has also published extensively on excimer laser, refractive, and corneal surgeries.
