MEDICAL CENTER HOSTS SECOND ANNUAL
WOMEN'S WELLNESS CONFERENCE JUNE 14


Hackensack University Medical Center will host a conference focusing on women's health on Wednesday, June 14, starting at 8:30 a.m. Conference topics include heart disease, cancer, allergies, diabetes, and complementary medicine, as well as nutrition and creating a balanced lifestyle.

In addition to John P. Ferguson, president and chief executive officer, featured speakers from the medical center will include Judith M. Lewis, R.N., MBA, administrative director of Cardiac Services; Louis E. Teichholz, M.D., director of Cardiac Services and chief of the Division of Cardiology, Department of Internal Medicine; Richard J. Rosenbluth, M.D. and division chief, medical oncology, Northern New Jersey Cancer Treatment and Prevention Center; Mary Ann Michelis, M.D. director of The Center for Allergy, Asthma and Immune Disorders, Jill T. Friedland, M.S., R.D., The Diabetes Center; Cynthia Knorr-Mulder, RNC, MSN, NP-C, C.S., manager of The Center for Health and Healing; and Susan Zafarlotfi, Ph.D., clinical director, Institute for Sleep-Wake Disorders and Breath and Lung Institute. "An Environment of Total Care for Women" at Hackensack University Medical Center will be presented by Joan M. Wright, administrative director, Strategic Partnerships for Women's Health.

Luncheon speakers include Marsha Hudnall, M.S., R.D., of Green Mountain at Fox Run, and Dr. Howard M. Shapiro, author of "Dr. Shapiro's Picture Perfect Weight Loss." Each person in attendance will receive a gift copy of Dr. Shapiro's book, which is currently on the New York Times, bestseller list.

Three local assemblywomen are participating in the conference. Rose M. Heck (R-38) is chairwoman for the conference, and offering remarks will be Charlotte Vandervalk (R-39) and Loretta Weinberg (D-37).

The conference concludes with a tour of facilities in the Hackensack University Medical Plaza, including the "Beyond" day spa, The Center for Health and Healing; The Institute for Breast Care; the Ellen H. Lazar Shoppe on Fifth, and the Executive Health Suite.
