MEDICAL CENTER TO HOST CONFERENCE FOR NURSES
ON TOTAL JOINT SURGERY AND HIP FRACTURES ON JUNE 17
Hackensack University Medical Center will host a conference entitled "Nursing Considerations in Total Joint Surgery and Hip Fracture Management" Saturday, June 17 from 7:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. The conference will be held at the Holiday Inn, 283 Route 17 South in Hasbrouck Heights.
The conference is designed for perioperative nurses, operating room technicians, and other surgical team members who want to update their knowledge and skills in providing care to hip and knee reconstruction and hip fracture patients. The course focuses on important aspects of nursing care, and to improve continuity of care will address surgeon decision making as it impacts the perioperative care of these patients.
"Participants will receive a full range of information on total knee and hip reconstruction, as well as hip fracture management ," said John T. Andronaco, M.D., FACS, chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center. "In addition, experts will demonstrate the set-up and handling of sophisticated device and instrumentation systems on sawbone models."
Dr. Andronaco will lead a distinguished faculty at the conference including Michael C Distefano, M.D., assistant chairman in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, who will speak on hip fracture management. Tuition is $20 and includes course syllabus, continental breakfast, refreshment break, and luncheon. This activity for 5.5 contact hours is provided by Education Design, which is accredited as a provider in continuing education of nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
