HACKENSACK UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER
WELCOMES NEW PHYSICIAN TO ITS STAFF


Fred Charles Hirschenfang, M.D., F.A.A.P. of Fort Lee has joined the staff at Hackensack University Medical Center as section chief of Pediatric Ambulatory Care and medical director of The JUDY CENTER for Down Syndrome.
Fred Charles Hirschenfang, M.D., FAAP of Fort Lee has joined the staff at Hackensack University Medical Center as section chief of Pediatric Ambulatory Care and medical director of The JUDY CENTER for Down Syndrome.

Dr. Hirschenfang earned a bachelor's degree from Brooklyn College, and a Doctor of Medicine degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, both with honors. He completed a pediatric internship and residency at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. Hirschenfang was a lieutenant commander during his tenure with the National Health Service Corps as a pediatrician assigned to Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich, N.Y. For several years following, he was in private practice in Norwich, where he served as president of the County Medical Society and president of the medical staff.

Dr. Hirschenfang served as chief of Pediatrics at Medical West Multispecialty Practice in Chicopee, Mass., where he was a member of the Board of Directors. He served as an attending physician at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass., before joining the staff of the medical center earlier this year.

Dr. Hirschenfang was an associate clinical professor of pediatrics at Upstate Medical Center in Binghampton, N.Y., where he was "Teacher of the Year" in 1983. Until recently he served as full clinical professor of pediatrics at Tufts University School of Medicine, West Campus, Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass., where he was also honored as "Outstanding Pediatric Teacher of the Year" in 1989.
