| DONNA A. SANZARI HONORED AT HACKENSACK UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER FOUNDATION GOLF OUTING Hackensack University Medical Center Foundation’s Sixth Annual Invitational Golf Outing, netting $410,000, was held at Edgewood Country Club in River Vale and Arcola Country Club in Paramus. The proceeds from the outing have been designated for the medical center’s Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital. Donna A. Sanzari of Ho-Ho-Kus, was this year’s honoree. Mrs. Sanzari is the founding benefactor of Women’s Health Services at HUMC - The Donna A. Sanzari Women’s Health Services Education, Research and Resource Center. John P. Ferguson, president and chief executive officer of Hackensack University Medical Center presented the 2003 Humanitarian and Partner’s Masters Award to Mrs. Sanzari. “This evening is about Donna – she cares so much about women’s health and has the ability to make a difference,” said Mr. Ferguson. “She has put herself front and center and has become very involved with all our efforts and we are thrilled to honor Donna today on this special occasion. I wish to acknowledge the Sanzari’s extraordinary commitment as the single largest donor in the medical center’s history.” Samuel Toscano, Jr. of Hackensack, chairman of the medical center’s Board of Governors, also offered his thanks to golfers, tennis players, and guests. “We are grateful for Donna’s commitment to women’s health services.” For the third year running, the attendees had the option of a full day of tennis or golf, complete with a tournament. Guests ended their day with a reception, an awards dinner, and a live auction. Many of the attendees took advantage of the opportunity to experience the services of BEYOND, the medical center’s day spa, between their sport activities and dinner. The L.O. M.A. F. Tournament (Ladies Only Men Are Forbidden) was held at the Edgewood Country Club, giving women an opportunity to play nine holes including group lessons, a lavish lunch, and an afternoon at BEYOND. “Thank you to all my friends who support my every endeavor. There is nothing sadder than those who are unable to receive the care they need. I am proud to be a part of the Hackensack University Medical Center family. Know that I am able to give with a full heart,” said Mrs. Sanzari of Ho-Ho-Kus. Special thanks were given to the more than 60 sponsors of the event, including tournament and Hole-in-One sponsors Arizona Iced Tea, Due Process Stable, The Sanzari Companies, Prestige Motors & Tri –State Mercedes Benz Dealers and Prestige Family of World Class Automobiles. The evening’s live auction included a U.S. Open Tennis package; an evening cruise around Manhattan for 16 people aboard the 72-foot yacht the “Ditch Digger” with cocktails and dinner; an opportunity to tour the CBS Broadcast Center as they cover the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championships; a townhouse opportunity at The Palmetto Dunes, Hilton Head Island; dinner for ten at Morton’s Steak House in their private dining room at the Riverside Square Mall location; a dinner for 12 catered by Personal Touch/Sterling Caterers; and a dinner for 15 at Nanni’s Restaurant. |
