MEDICAL CENTER TO HOST MENTAL HEALTH LECTURE SERIES


Hackensack University Medical Center is committed to continuing its educational outreach to offer programs responding to community needs. The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine is pleased to offer an ongoing, weekly lecture series designed to educate the public about mental illness, including specific diagnoses, treatments, as well as the impact these illnesses have on individuals and their families. The lecture series is entitled “What you need to know about…” The seminars will be held at QUEST, the adult outpatient mental health program of the medical center, located at 25 East Salem Street in Hackensack, from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. on Tuesdays. All lectures are complimentary. 

The programs aim to raise awareness and increase understanding for persons suffering from mental illness and for those who love them and to teach new coping skills.

November seminars are as follows: November 4 – Anxiety Disorders: Social Phobia & Performance Anxiety; November 11 – Anxiety Disorders: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder; November 18 – Anxiety Disorders: Panic Disorder and Agoraphobia; November 25 – Eating Disorders. December seminars are as follows: December 2 - Anxiety Disorders: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder; December 9 – Introduction to Cognitive Behavior Therapy; December 16 – Thought Disorders: Schizophrenia & Schizoaffective Disorder; December 23 – Holiday Blues or Depression?
