| MEDICAL CENTER HOSTS CANCER SURVIVORS CELEBRATION The Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center recently hosted its Fifth Annual Cancer Survivors’ Day Celebration. Adult and pediatric cancer survivors were invited to bring their families for an afternoon of food, fun, and music. More than 150 attendees enjoyed the celebration of life hosted in The Palm Court of the Hackensack University Medical Plaza. This year’s event theme was “Hats Off to Our Survivors” – and all guests received a straw hat. President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush sent greetings to those across the country observing National Cancer Survivor’s Day. President Bush said, “I commend cancer survivors for their strength and courage in the face of this disease. I also applaud medical professionals, researchers, community groups, family members, and all those who offer vital care and support to individuals suffering from cancer. Your important efforts contribute to a future of great promise.” JoAnne M. Lawrence, MSN, RN, APN, C of Kinnelon, administrative director of The Cancer Center said, “We are delighted to see you here today to join us in celebrating National Cancer Survivor’s Day.” The Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center is the largest ambulatory cancer center in New Jersey. It sees more than 70,000 patients per year, which places it among the top 10 in the nation for patient volume. The Cancer Center has one of the top ten largest Blood and Marrow Transplantation Program in the nation, making it a leader in advanced treatment.
