TWIN’S BIRTHDAY BENEFITS MEDICAL CENTER’S NICU

Twins Karl and Kyle Larsson, 7, of Franklin Lakes, recently celebrated their birthday at The New York Sports Club in Mahwah and requested that their friends make a donation of $10 or less to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Hackensack University Medical Center. The twins had been born six weeks earlier than expected at the medical center. Their mother, Jan, credits the NICU for her premature twins subsequent good health.

The family recently visited the medical center to deliver its donation of $500 and enjoy a pizza party with NICU unit staff.

“We are truly touched by the boys’ thoughtful gift and the powerful example it sets for others,” said Robert L. Torre of Hackensack, vice president and chief operating officer of the Hackensack University Medical Center Foundation.

“It is wonderful that these young children are educating their friends about what a NICU unit does and their demonstration of generosity is extremely admirable,” said Harold Perl, M.D. of Teaneck, director of Neonatology in the Department of Pediatrics.
