THE MOLLY DIABETES CENTER FOR ADULTS AT HACKENSACK UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER HOSTS HEALTHY COOKING DEMONSTRATIONS


The MOLLY Diabetes Center for Adults at Hackensack University Medical Center is hosting a series of healthy cooking demonstrations with tastings. The community is invited to come to the center, located at 211 Essex Street, Suite 101 in Hackensack to learn healthy cooking techniques and quick, creative recipes that reduce fat intake.

Upcoming demonstrations include; Thursday, September 18 – Five Fruits & Veggies a day; and Tuesday, December 9 – Holiday Desserts. Both demos will be from 1 – 2 p.m., and the cost to attend is $25 per person. Please call the MOLLY Diabetes Center for Adults at (201) 968-0585 to register.

The recent demonstration on Healthy Barbecue Meals was a great success. A wide variety of gourmet recipes were presented, and the demo included nutritional information, label reading, food preparation, and safety tips. Look for more of the same activities in the two upcoming demos. 

The MOLLY Diabetes Center for Adults also offers comprehensive educational programs designed to gain a better understanding of diabetes and its daily management. Other programs include “Continuous Subcutaneous Insulin Infusion (SCII) Pump Use; ” “Nutrition Counseling;” “Supermarket Shopping Tours;” and “New Baby…New You,” for any women who experienced gestational diabetes during pregnancy. 

The center offers free monthly support groups for Type I and Type 2 diabetes, as well as a transitional support group for high school seniors.
