| MEDICAL CENTER’S DAVE WINFIELD NUTRITION CENTER OFFERS WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAMS FOR SUMMER Take charge! Now is the time to make that all important first step toward true and lasting control of your weight. The Dave Winfield Nutrition Center at Hackensack University Medical Center is offering weight loss programs for adults and children. The Body Shop is a weight management program designed for youngsters ages eight through 13. The Body Shop meets Tuesdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. for eight sessions June 24 through August 12. The cost is $250 per child (bring a sibling or a friend and their fee will be $219). Pre-registration is required. “A multidisciplinary team of professionals will work with children and their families to achieve better self-esteem and weight management through education, physical activity, counseling, and group support,” said Lorna Pascal, R.D., coordinator of the Dave Winfield Nutrition Center. Thinking Thin, a group weight management program for adults promotes long-term healthy habits through skills and strategies offered by healthcare professionals who will help participants lose weight gradually, and develop the momentum to stay on track. The series meets Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. June 11 through July 30. The cost is $250 per person (bring a friend or partner for $219) and pre-registration is also required. Both programs will meet in the medical center’s Heart Center, located in Hackensack University Medical Plaza, Suite 200, 20 Prospect Avenue, Hackensack.
