CONGRESSMAN E. SCOTT GARRETT VISITS MEDICAL CENTER; TOURS CHILDREN’S HOUSE AND SEES NEW CONSTRUCTION 


Congressman E. Scott Garrett (R-24) recently visited Hackensack University Medical Center. The Congressman met with John P. Ferguson, president and chief executive officer of the medical center and Robert L. Torre, vice president and chief operating officer of the HUMC Foundation. Afterwards, he toured the construction site of The Sarkis Gabrellian Women’s and Children’s Pavilion. Due to be completed in late 2005, the 300,000-square-foot pavilion will be home to The Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital, The Women’s Hospital, and The Mark Messier Skyway for Tomorrows Children. The congressman then moved on to a tour of The Audrey Hepburn Children’s House. A state-designated Regional Diagnostic Center for Child Abuse and Neglect serving children and families in Bergen, Hudson, Morris, Sussex, and Warren counties. The first-of-its-kind in the world, the unique environment includes: medical examination rooms, evaluation and interview rooms with observation capabilities, therapeutic play areas for children, individual and group therapy rooms, and child-friendly waiting areas.
