MEDICAL CENTER OFFERS GASTRIC BYPASS SUPPORT
The Center for Trauma Recovery at Hackensack University Medical Center is offering a group psychotherapy program focusing on gastric bypass and food. The group is open to those who have gone through bypass surgery and need help in adjusting to the lifestyle changes or those who use food as a way of dealing with emotional issues.
The focus of the psychotherapy group program is to teach individuals to develop alternate ways of dealing with emotional upset without resorting to food for comfort and to deal with the life and social changes. Both day and evening group sessions are available, facilitated by licensed, clinical social workers.
The Center for Trauma Recovery, located at 25 East Salem Street, Hackensack, provides comprehensive services to individuals and their families who have experienced a change such as a life-alterating events. Trauma issues currently addressed by group include: Grief and Bereavement; Post-partum Depression; Gastric Bypass/Overeating as an emotional response, Medical/ Life-Altering Illnesses or Disabilities, and coping with symptoms of trauma.
