The medical center has found a stylish prescription for treating patients with dignity – a new line of hospital wear designed exclusively for the medical center by renowned fashion designer, Nicole Miller. The chic collection of hospital gowns, created with Miller’s famous, whimsical prints, were commissioned by the medical center to help patients maintain their dignity and pride. Miller’s modesty-minded designs now give a whole new meaning to the term “healthcare coverage.”

Hospital gowns have always been one of the largest sources of patient complaints, with good reason. The bare-backed style of the traditional, unisex hospital gown has left many patients feeling vulnerable and uncomfortable. The Hackensack University Medical Center community felt it was time to help patients take back their dignity and feel at ease in what can be a highly stressful time in their lives. The initial collection of Nicole Miller-designed hospital gowns became available to patients in December, 1999 and consists of drawstring pants, boxers and pullover tops, side and front-snap gowns, and a robe. There is also a special line of infant and pediatric wear.

Preserving a patient’s dignity is something that is often overlooked in the fast-paced world of medicine and technology, but Hackensack University Medical Center has always gone that extra step to treat its patients as valued and respected guests. In partnering with Nicole Miller to revolutionize the hospital experience, Hackensack University Medical Center hopes to inspire change throughout the medical community.
