Kathleen Lorenc Raines, R.N., M.S.N., APN.C, C.D.E.
Administrative Director
Kathleen Raines, who now serves as the Administrative Director of both The Center for Health and Healing and the MOLLY Diabetes Center for Adults, began her career at HUMC in 1989 as a member of the Nursing Education staff. During her tenure she has been instrumental in the establishment of the Diabetes Center and the reorganization of The Center for Health and Healing. Ms. Raines is a practitioner of therapeutic touch, and she has assisted in the creation of the medical center's formulary for herbs, vitamins, and supplements. She has lectured as a clinical instructor of Maternal / Child Nursing, Medical Surgery, and Endocrinology. She is a recipient of several clinical practice awards, has published several journal articles, and is a contributing editor for Diabetes Educator.

Ms. Raines received her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Wagner University, New York, with a concentration in both Medical Surgical / Maternal Child Nursing and Hospital Administration. Her undergraduate studies were completed at Columbia Presbyterian, Staten Island Hospital, and St. Vincent's Medical Center. She is an active member of the American Nursing Association, the American Diabetes Association, the Juvenile Diabetes Association, the American Organization of Nurse Executives, CAM-Tri State Consortium, Garden State Association of Diabetes Educators, the American Association of Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine, the National Association of Female Executives, and the Association of Holistic Nursing.

Dr. Louis Evan Teichholz received his A.B. degree magna cum laude from Harvard College and his M.D. degree cum laude from Harvard Medical School. He completed his fellowship training in housestaff and cardiology at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston. He then served as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Public Health Service and a Staff Associate at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. He was on the faculty of Harvard Medical School before going to Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York City, in 1974 as the Associate Chief of Cardiology. During his tenure there, he became Professor of Medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Associate Director of the Cardiovascular Institute and Vice-Chairman of Medicine. In 1996, he began his tenure at HUMC as the Chief of Cardiology and Medical Director of Cardiac Services. He is also Professor of Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Teichholz is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the Sub-specialty Board on Cardiovascular Diseases. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Cardiology, and the Council on Clinical Cardiology of the American Heart Association. Dr. Teichholz is also HUMC Medical Director of both the Complementary Medicine Program and BEYOND, the day spa at the medical center.
