When faced with a cancer diagnosis, prompt expert medical treatment is crucial. Hackensack University Medical Center’s cancer program is one of the nation’s foremost cancer treatment, research, and prevention programs, bringing together the world’s most advanced technology; the medical, nursing, and technical skills of hundreds of cancer care professionals; and the compassionate delivery of services.

A full range of inpatient and outpatient services is available, complemented by an active research roster that translates into innovative treatment capabilities. Ancillary services – including nutrition counseling, spiritual support, and social services – complete every care plan, so that all aspects of a patient’s cancer experience are addressed.

Comprehensive adult outpatient cancer care is centralized at The Cancer Center, which is conveniently located on the fourth floor of the Hackensack University Medical Plaza, just four floors below The Colon Cancer Prevention Center. It is the largest ambulatory care facility in New Jersey and one of the largest in the country. Services offered by the center for colon cancer patients include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, access to clinical trials, complementary medicine techniques, nutrition counseling, pastoral care, social services, educational programs, a resource library, psychosocial counseling, and support groups.

Physicians at the center are major partners in national and international multi-center trials, bringing today’s most promising discoveries from the lab bench to the patient’s bedside. The David Joseph Jurist Research Center for Tomorrows Children has elevated these efforts. The $20 million state-of-the-art laboratory facility, home to The David and Alice Jurist Institute for Research, has attracted the nation’s top scientists who are on the forefront of cancer research.
