The Childbirth Pavilion is staffed by a dedicated team of board-certified physicians, including obstetricians, gynecologists, anesthesiologists, perinatologists, neonatologists, and pediatricians, highly educated and skilled in these medical specialties and subspecialties. To assure the most comprehensive care for the individual patient, there is 24-hour in-house coverage by an attending obstetrician and resident anesthesiologist and attending staff.
Hackensack University Medical Center was the second hospital nationwide to be awarded Magnet status for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. All members of the registered nursing staff in the Labor and Delivery Unit are certified in fetal monitoring and neonatal resuscitation. The medical and nursing staff at The Childbirth Pavilion are also thoroughly educated and experienced in the management of high-risk ante, intra, and postpartum patient care regardless of gestational age or maternal complications. |

Our ability to care for the unexpected as well as the expected is what makes The Childbirth Pavilion special.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), a state-designated Level III Regional Perinatal Center, provides state-of-the-art medical treatment and care for both the premature and acutely-ill newborns. Staffed 24-hours a day by board-certified neonatologists and highly skilled nurses, certified in neonatal resuscitation, the NICU is capable of providing specialized care to problem newborns, regardless of age, birth weight, diagnosis, or need for long or short-term ventilation.
The NICU has open visiting (24-hours a day) for parents, who are encouraged to visit their newborns and participate in their care. Follow-up care for all newborns is also available through the Toys R Us-Kids R Us Institute of Child Development (ICD) at Hackensack University Medical Center.
